Fascinated by the ever-growing popularity of personalizing vehicles through manufacturers' extended paint catalogs, where the possibilities can seem almost endless, I set out to document the vast world of automotive paint colors. From standard palettes to extended ranges and special requests (commonly known as PTS, or Paint to Sample), the aim is to catalog every paint option manufacturers have to offer.

Beyond the colors themselves, each paint is documented with its finish, type and layers, where it first appeared and which models it was offered on, illustrated with photos of real cars. Whether you're an enthusiast, collector, or simply curious, carpaints.co offers insight into the full spectrum of automotive paint possibilities.

After founding Exclusive Car Registry in 2015 and growing it over the years that followed, I started carpaints.co in 2021. Every paint, car and photo on this website is added and reviewed by hand, making it a carefully curated database built on years of real research. Take a look at the stats to see how far it has grown.

How it works

Each paint color is uploaded only once per vehicle. The focus is on documenting the paints, not individual vehicles. However, you can contribute vehicle-specific information, such as chassis numbers, on the upload detail page. This helps cross-reference cars and document their unique paint options via VIN, ensuring accurate information on rarity and availability.

Since each paint is uploaded only once, please upload images of stock vehicles when possible. This allows cars to be compared in various colors as they left the factory, giving a clearer and more accurate representation of each paint option.

Contribute

All you need is an account, and you can submit everything you see on the website: paints, makes, models, paint offers, ... Every contribution is greatly appreciated, as it makes the database more accurate and informative. When contributing, please respect the community guidelines.

It also allows the site to adapt quickly whenever the evolving world of automotive customization calls for something new.
