The iX3 is BMW’s new fully electric SUV, unveiled in September 2025 under the Neue Klasse platform. It marks a major leap forward with a dedicated EV architecture, moving away from the shared combustion-based platform used by its predecessor. Production begins in late 2025 at BMW’s new Debrecen plant in Hungary, with European deliveries starting in early 2026 and U.S. sales following later that year.
Key Specs & Highlights:
- Drivetrain: Launches as the iX3 50 xDrive, featuring a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup producing 463 hp (345 kW) and 476 lb-ft of torque, capable of 0–62 mph in 4.9 seconds.
- Battery & Range: Powered by a 109 kWh usable battery pack delivering up to approximately 400 miles EPA / 805 km (500 miles) WLTP range, while supporting ultra-fast 400 kW charging.
- Technology & Design: Introduces BMW’s latest Neue Klasse styling language with slim kidney grilles, triangular headlights, flush surfaces, and a cleaner, more aerodynamic overall profile.
- Interior Innovation: Features BMW’s new “Panoramic iDrive” windshield display, a minimalist dashboard layout, and advanced AI-driven infotainment systems.
Paint options:
At launch, the iX3 offers a relatively limited palette of exterior colors, including three new shades developed specifically for the Neue Klasse generation: Polarized Grey metallic, Eucalyptus Green metallic, and Ocean Wave Blue metallic, the latter serving as the car’s main communication color. The rest of the lineup includes Space Silver metallic, Fire Red / Vegas Red, M Brooklyn Grey metallic, Sapphire Black metallic, and Alpine White III, with white remaining the only no-cost option.
Eucalyptus Green and Fire Red / Vegas Red were delayed until March 2026 and were therefore not immediately available at launch. BMW also introduced two Frozen finishes slightly later: Frozen Space Silver and Frozen Ocean Wave Blue. These matte paints were initially the only special-order finishes available for the model and carry a premium of approximately €2,950.
The Debrecen factory itself was designed from the beginning to support BMW Individual Special Request paints, allowing BMW to expand the iX3’s color palette significantly shortly after launch. From halfway through 2026 and onwards, ten additional BMW Individual colors join the lineup:
- Twilight Purple Pearl Effect Metallic
- Voodoo Blue Solid
- Purple Silk Metallic
- Tanzanite Blue II Metallic
- Orinoco Pearl Metallic
- Java Green Metallic
- Urban Green Uni
- Malachite Green Metallic
- Grigio Telesto Pearl Metallic
- Sepang Bronze Metallic
